Baklava (in Arabic, baqlawa) is a sweet made of many thin layers of filo pastry, filled with chopped nuts and soaked in syrup after baking. Ours is pistachio, and we serve it at both our sites: Clariano 6 in Valencia and Zabaleta 1 in Madrid.
Where does baklava come from?
It is one of the best-known sweets of the Middle East, and it is also made in Turkey, Greece and the Balkans. Its exact origin is disputed, and several countries consider it their own. In Palestine and across the Levant it is a sweet for celebrations: offered to guests, brought to family gatherings and always there at Eid.
What is our baklava like?
Layers of filo pastry filled with pistachio and soaked in syrup, made to the traditional recipe. The filo gives it the crunch; the syrup gives it the sweet, moist finish. It is a vegetarian dessert: no meat.
How much is it and how do I order it?
A portion of baklava is €4.90 and it is on the menu in both Valencia and Madrid. You can add it to any online order, for collection or delivery.
If you would rather have a full meal, the Menú 1P Luxe Baklava (€15.90) brings together our za'atar Patatas Luxe topped with shawarma (chicken, mixed or beef), a soft drink and a portion of baklava.
What goes well with baklava?
Have it as dessert after a shawarma or falafel. It goes well with a cold Palestine Cola, or with coffee or tea if you are eating at home.

What allergens does baklava contain?
It contains gluten (the filo pastry), milk and tree nuts (the pistachio). Our kitchen is shared, so if you have an allergy, check the allergens in the online shop before you order and make the call yourself.
